COURSE TOPICS
This course covers from the initial complaint through the proper filing of your case with the prosecutor. Students will receive traditional classroom instruction accompanied by daily work processing one of four “cruelty scenes”. Coaches will be assisting through process and investigation with each scene.
Each team will work through investigations and interviews, identifying elements and applying for search warrants, processing their crime scenes, packaging evidence and presenting their finished case to the prosecutor. Prior to attending this class, the student should have a working knowledge of basic complaint investigation, probable cause and search and seizure. In an effort to maintain a small student to instructor ratio this class will be limited to 24 students so don’t delay on registrations.
Certification
This academy is taught in partnership with Colorado State University for certification. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate and are eligible to apply for continuing education credits from Colorado State University. Veterinary professionals may apply to receive CEUs from Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
