Essential Animal Services Training (EAST)
It doesn’t take a pandemic to know how essential Animal Control Officers, Investigators, and Animal Welfare Professionals are to their communities. The Essential Animal Services Training (EAST) provides a multi-tiered learning experience that focuses on in-person practical training. This curriculum provides law enforcement and animal welfare/animal control personnel with training that equips them with the tools needed, not only for duties in animal control, but also animal cruelty investigations. Our EAST class is taught in greater frequency, but we have a number of animal control and animal cruelty investigations classes.
National Response Team Training
This field focused disaster response training (often known as Animal Disaster Response Training, ADR) is designed to now offer both awareness and operations level training to professionals who want to meet the FEMA Resource Typing guidelines for Animal Control Officer and also Animal Search and Rescue Technician. Start with Code 3 training to cover all of your prerequisite training; and work your way through additional nationally recognized training partners like ASAR Training and Response and Rescue 3 International. Whether your focus is small animal, large animal, Haz-mat, or non-traditional species, your one-stop field training skills start with Code 3.
Sheltering Support with BISSELL Pet Foundation’s National Shelter Alliance
The BPF National Shelter Alliance program will support Code 3 Associates with placement of animals from cruelty and disaster situations; as well as work to prepare shelters for disaster planning and response. In addition, network shelter partners may provide transport referrals and opportunities for overwhelmed shelters, make training accessible for all shelters, and empower shelter staff by providing resources and referrals during crisis.
Whole Community Strategic Planning
Our Whole Community Strategic Planning branch works with leaders of all facets within the Animal Welfare Profession. Communication and collaboration of known resources in any community is a win-win for everyone involved. Code 3 planners will work with communities to review current resources and procedures, identify resource and partner gaps that need to be addressed, bridge communications between Emergency Management and Animal Welfare Professionals, and offer progressive training and response plans. Whether you are taking initiative in your area to plan for animals in your community, or if you are refreshing seasoned Emergency Support Functions; Code 3 leadership is here to support and empower your efforts.
