Safety and PPE for Various Taxa (Species)

This 1 hour long course will give animal services officers, first responders and animal shelter staff an awareness of safety procedures and considerations for exotic species to ensure lower risk of human injury and/or disease transmission. Exotic species are ever increasing in prevalence in the pet trade both legally and illegally. This can create dangerous situations for unknowing responders and animal care staff. Lessons learned during this course will provide valuable information to identify common exotic species, recognize and protect against the potential for injury and zoonotic disease. This course will also provide information to prepare SOPs for your team; ensuring you are prepared for any species that you may encounter.
