Trailer Safety and Skills

Hosted By: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office thanks to a grant from ASPCA to Code 3 Associates.

The trailer safety and skills course is geared to students all levels of trailering ability. This class provides emergency responders, livestock haulers, CART members, humane or animal control officers the necessary tools in preparation of hauling livestock.

A vehicle safety and trailer driving skills test with owned vehicles and trailer is required to receive a certificate. Instructors will take you through basic maneuvers at the practice stations prior to testing. Students must pass the skills test to receive a certificate.

Topics Include:

• Pre-trip vehicle check
• Importance of speed management
• Breaking distance
• Trailer inspection
• Driving skills test
• Equine medical assessment, triage, stabilization and transport
