Veterinary Forensic Investigations

October 18, 2023 – 9:00 am to 12:00 am (Mountain Time) – Virtual

We are excited to offer a 3-hour course in veterinary forensic sciences aimed at providing animal services officers, animal welfare professionals, first responders, and criminal investigators with the necessary tools to successfully investigate crimes of cruelty and neglect. This comprehensive course provides a general introduction to the field of veterinary forensic sciences and covers various topics such as the role of a forensic veterinarian, different forms of animal cruelty with case examples, and an overview of the forensic necropsy/postmortem exam.

Participants will also learn about the use of ancillary diagnostics and reports, photography, and videography as methods to further document animal cruelty cases beyond basic report writing. The course concludes with a review of cases that are difficult to investigate and legally prove. Our expert instructor will ensure that participants leave the course equipped with the knowledge and skills required for successful investigation of crimes involving animal cruelty and neglect. Join us for this collaborative and practical course to make a positive impact on the welfare of animals in your community.
